7. Intimidating Tenants

In 1981, Donald Trump bought a building in Central Park South. He wanted to turn the old tenement into luxury condos, but the people who lived in the building were not willing to move out of their rent-controlled apartments. To get them to leave, Trump turned off heat and water, refused to make repairs, and threatened eviction. The tenants were steadfast and eventually Trump gave up and started to properly manage the building.
