Brooklyn native and former FDNY firefighter Buscemi volunteered the day after 9/11. He walked into the Little Italy Engine Company he had worked out of in the early 1980’s and pulled 12-hour shifts sifting through the wreckage and recovering the bodies of victims of the attacks.
