Harrison Ford was originally offered the lead in Schindler’s List, Oskar Schindler. Harrison turned down the role not because he did not believe in the film, but because he did. He stated that he felt that people would not be able to look past him (as the star) in order to get the importance of the film. It’s hard to imagine anyone not grasping Schindler’s List, no matter who is in it, but it was an admirable move.
